Principal’s Message

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Middlefield Collegiate Institute, (M.C.I.), website where you will find current information about the school. Middlefield C. I. has undergone many changes over the years as we have grown from being a structure in the "middle of a field" to a towering influence of academic excellence at the heart of a rapidly growing community in South-Eastern Markham. While our building is impressive, we are most proud of our reputation for providing quality programming in a safe and supportive environment that promotes high achievement for all students.

At M.C.I. we offer a wide range of curricular and co-curricular programs in academics, athletics, and the arts. These programs provide our students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes required for active participation and leadership in our changing global community. For instance, we have expanded our enriched Advanced Placement preparation courses that emphasise academic achievement in preparation for post-secondary education. Our Mathematics and Science programs continue to receive local and international recognition for excellence while our new technology wing will provide our students with advanced skills and hands-on experience and in the highly specialised field of technology.

We provide many opportunities to develop leadership skills through participation in a wide variety of inclusive co-curricular activities, teams and clubs. I would like to recognize the dedication and hard work of the teaching and support staff in supporting all students to achieve at the highest possible levels. We are very fortunate to have such a caring and inspiring group of individuals whose collective emphasis on balanced programming challenges our students to strive for excellence.
